From a messy folder to a remediation plan.
Most free checkers handle one document at a time or are Windows-only. PDF Triage does whole folders in a browser tab.

Password-protected files and security settings that block assistive technology.
Effort & cost estimate
Minutes per file and a quote estimate at your vendor’s per-page rate.
Runs in your browser
Everything runs in your browser with open-source PDF libraries (pdf.js and pdf-lib). Your files are never sent to a server – you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.

Cities & counties
Agendas, minutes, permits and budgets across departments and legacy sites.
School districts
Board packets, enrollment forms and handbooks — most districts are on the 2028 date.

Agencies & vendors
Size a client’s backlog in minutes and quote by category, not by guesswork.

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser with open-source PDF libraries (pdf.js and pdf-lib). Your files are never sent to a server – you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
How can I check hundreds of PDFs for accessibility at once?
Drop a folder of PDFs into PDF Triage. It runs 16 automated WCAG 2.1 AA / PDF/UA checks on every file in your browser and sorts them into scanned, untagged, needs fixes, quick fix or passes. The free plan handles 10 files per batch; Pro (US$29 one-time) removes the limit.
Is there a PAC alternative that works on Mac or Chromebook?
PAC is Windows-only. PDF Triage runs in any modern browser on macOS, ChromeOS, Windows and Linux and checks whole folders at once. It is a triage pre-check – for a full PDF/UA validation of individual files you can still use PAC or veraPDF.
When is the ADA Title II deadline for accessible PDFs?
After the interim final rule published April 20, 2026, state and local governments with a population of 50,000 or more must meet WCAG 2.1 AA by April 26, 2027; smaller entities and all special district governments by April 26, 2028.
Does “passes automated checks” mean the PDF is compliant?
No. Automated checks catch structural problems; a person must still confirm alt text quality, reading order and table meaning. Use PDF Triage to size and prioritize the work – not as a certification or legal advice.
What does the metadata fix change?
Only document-level settings: title (Info + XMP), language, “display document title”, the Marked flag when real tags already exist, and structure tab order on pages with links. It never invents tags or alt text. Originals are untouched; fixed copies download as a ZIP.
How does the Pro license work?
Pay once with Stripe. You are sent back to PDF Triage and Pro is unlocked in that browser. Keep your receipt – the checkout ID restores Pro on another browser.
How accurate is the scanned-page detection?
It samples up to 12 pages per file (all pages for short files) and flags a file when most sampled pages are images with almost no real text.
Who is this for?
Web and document managers at cities, counties, school districts, libraries and colleges, and the agencies and contractors who quote remediation for them.
Is PDF Triage related to Adobe’s “PDFTriage” research?
No. PDF Triage (pdftriage.dev) is an independent bulk PDF accessibility checker. “PDFTriage” is also the name of a 2023 Adobe Research paper on question answering over long documents; the two are unrelated.
